Transport company delivers Christmas to the North
Presents aren’t the only things being delivered this Christmas season.
Kody Transport of Morganton delivers Christmas trees and garland up and down the east coast.
Operations Manager Jason Ali said the deliveries really pick up about a week before Thanksgiving.
Their biggest delivery, though, was Nov. 6 when they transported a 50-foot tree to Boston. “It’s kind of like the Rockefeller tree in New York,” Ali said. The evergreen came from Sugar Mountain Nurseries in Newland.
Ali said the company delivered Boston’s Christmas tree last year, as well. That was Kody Transport’s only big tree this year, he said. It’s hard to take more than one because many cities put up their trees around the same time.
The company took Christmas trees from Virginia to Florida and on Tuesday delivered white pine garland from Carpenter and Sons Evergreens in Ennice to Brooklyn, N.Y.
In the past, he said, they have delivered poinsettias from the South to New Jersey. “We get paid to take Christmas to people,” Ali said.
