There’s still time to donate bikes
When you’re going over your Christmas list during the next few weeks, don’t forget to add a new, shiny bike to your list.
The recipient is a needy child who probably wouldn’t get any other gifts this year. But thanks to the Hickory Fire Department, Salvation Army and Catawba County Christmas Bureau, hundreds of children will receive new bikes and toys for Christmas.
The fire department is collecting and assembling bikes and tricycles for the Christmas Bureau through its program called Bikes For Tykes. The department is asking for new bicycles or tricycles for children. The bikes will be given away during the Christmas Bureau.
The Christmas Bureau starts Dec. 10 at the Hickory American Legion Fairgrounds.
You can drop off a new bike or monetary donation until Dec. 7. Bring bikes or tricycles to any of the Hickory fire stations between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The firefighters will assemble the bikes and deliver them to the Christmas Bureau. Firefighters also are collecting helmets to go with each bike.
Anyone needing directions or more information should call 828-323-7420.

Hello, I was wondering if you help for the Morganton area. I am disabled and have 3 kids. We just moved last month and are having it rough. We dont even have furniture in our home. Is there an agency that can help us this year? I would greatly appreciate any help you can give us.
