Davidson plans annual Christmas event

Christmas in Davidson begins on Thursday, Nov 29, at 6 p.m. on the Village Green. Look for Santa Claus to arrive by fire truck at 6:30 p.m. Here are some of the highlights:

Santa Claus
Santa will be in the Community Room of the Davidson Public Library — come visit him in his own “house.” Mrs. Claus will be at the Opening Ceremonies as well as at Knox Realty at 103 N. Main Street each evening.

Take a ride
You can hop aboard the Christmas Trolley, courtesy of The McIntosh Law Firm, at the Village Green, Davidson Cotton Mill, South Main Square. The trolley travels continuously throughout the evenings to parking lots.

The hay wagon rides are first come, first served. Board at the Village Green and take a trip to Patterson Court on the Campus to see the decorated eating houses. Rides are free.

Pretend that you’re in Davidson in 1900 going to visit friends on a horse-drawn carriage ride. Rides leave from the Davidson Town Hall and cost $5 per person. Arrive early to make reservations: space is limited to six small adults per carriage.

    Don’t Miss:
  • Live Nativity: Complete with the Holy family, shepherds with their animals, wise men, Roman soldiers and townspeople; also soloists, scripture readings, dramas and refreshments.
  • Angel Tree: Located at 442 S. Main Street. Help make someone’s holiday a little brighter this year.
  • Food: Chili, cornbread and baked goods for sale from the Meck 1 girl scouts at the DUMC Fellowship Hall, complimentary coffee from Campania Café & Italian Gourmet Market, hotdogs, chips, drinks and baked goods for sale to benefit Habitat for Humanity and Woodlawn School on the Village Green.
  • The Gingerbread Lady House: Courtesy of Market Street Properties, at 452. S. Main Street. Make your own gingerbread house.
  • Singers: Look for the Woodlawn School singers, Raeford’s Barber Shop gospel singers, Jim Stewart Quartet and the Pine Ridge Boys and DUMC singers on the Village Green and at local shops.
