Christmas in Davidson events
Opening ceremonies
Christmas in Davidson kicks off on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. on the Village Green (Concord and Main). Santa will arrive at 6:30 p.m. on a fire engine.
Holiday Events
- Santa Claus will be in his “house” in the community room of the Public Library each evening until 9 p.m. Mrs. Claus will be at Knox Realty at 103 N. Main Street. Photos with Santa available
- Live Nativity complete with the Holy Family, shepherds with their animals, wise men, Roman soldiers, and townspeople; also soloists, scripture readings, short dramas, and refreshments at Davidson United Methodist Church on South Main near the Youth House
- Hay Wagon Ride: Board at the Village Green and take a trip to Patterson Court on campus to see the decorated eating houses. Rides are free.
- Horse Drawn Carriages: Board at Town Hall. Tickets cost is $5. Buy tickets early as space is limited.
- Children’s Photo Shoot in holiday setting ready for Christmas gifts at Davidson United Methodist Church from 5-7 p.m.
- Christmas Trolley: Trolley travels continuously from the Village Green, South Main Square and the Davidson Cotton Mill and back. Parking is available at each of the listed trolley stops.
Crafts
- The Gingerbread Lady House: Make your own Gingerbread House at the Parks and Recreation Department, 452 South Main Street
- Cookie decorating: Sugar cookies and supplies provided at Southern Bella, 428 A S. Main St.
- Make an angel ornament; candy canes for kids with Angels of ’97 on the Village Green
- Make your own Reindeer Munch to put out for Santa’s reindeer with The Childrens Schoolhouse on the Village Green
- Kids can create a special Christmas card for your family at The Needlecraft Center, 102 S. Main St.
Food
- Chili Supper (Nov. 30) to benefit music ministry programs at Davidson United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall 6-8 p.m.
- Meck 1 Girl Scouts will be selling chili (Nov. 29) and donuts and coffee at Market Properties on South Main
- Hot dogs, chips, drinks and baked goods for sale to benefit Habitat for Humanity and Woodlawn School on the Village Green
- Hot chocolate and doughnuts for sale to benefit student council activities at Davidson Elementary Student Council in front of Brenda Pressley CPA, PA on South Main Street
Music
- Children Recorder Ensemble (Nov. 29) Cornelius Elementary School an the Library steps at 7:30 p.m.
- Music on the Green (Dec. 1), Lake Norman Youth Orchestra, performing from 6-7 p.m.
- Cannon School (Nov. 30) Lower School Recorder Ensemble followed by Cannon Middle School and Upper School Chorus singing songs of the season at Davidson United Methodist Chapel at 6 p.m.; Cannon School Orchestra and Jazz Orchestra at 7:15 p.m.
- Classical Christmas by Kent Dowell & Bob Ennis (Nov. 29); Blue Gross Christmas by Blue Grass Blend (Nov. 30); at Davidson Village Inn, 117 Depot St.
- Music on the hammer dulcimer and banjo by Jeff Whittington, banjo player in the original rendition of dueling banjos; hot cider will be served at First Charter, 124 South Main
- Woodlawn School singers on the library steps at 7 p.m.
- Gospel Singing at Raeford’s Barber Shop, 206 South Main
- Gospel singing at Davidson Presbyterian Church, 116 Depot St.
- Singing Quartet Jim Stewart and The Pine Ridge Boys (Nov. 29); chair massage; numerologist/palm reader at Brenda H. Pressley, CPA
- Handbell Christmas Concert (Nov. 30) by several handbell choirs playing traditional favorites at Davidson College Presbyterian Church at DCPC Sanctuary 7:30 p.m.
- Outreach Singers of Davidson Methodist Church will sing “T’was the Night before Christmas” and other Christmas carols; 6-7 p.m. (Nov. 29)
- Davidson United Methodist Church Chancel Handbells ringing songs of the season 7 and 8 p.m. (Nov. 29)
- John and Angela Watts will perform folk Christmas music at Davidson United Methodist Chapel at 7:30 p.m. (Nov. 29)
- The Charlotteans, UNC-Charlotte’s Ladies Glee Club, accompanied by Greg Underwood, staff accompanist, will perform Christmas choral music at Davidson United Methodist Chapel at 8:30 p.m. (Nov. 29)
- Children’s Community School Chorus (Dec. 1) on the Village Green at 7 p.m. and After School Dance Program 2nd – 5th grade jazz/modern dancers at 7:30 p.m.
- Shirley Gilpin and flute students will play their annual Christmas Recital (Dec. 1) at Davidson United Methodist Chapel at 6 p.m.; followed by Whatever 4, women’s a cappella quartet; at 7:30 p.m.

- Children’s Art Exhibit in various media created by the children of the DCPC congregation at Davidson College Presbyterian Church Congregational House Gallery
